Just as KPRC 2 anchor Iain Page announced on Facebook he was going on vacation (it was announced in all caps like a TV anchor's script BTW), the word is around town that he's leaving the station soon to pursue other opportunities.
Page came to Houston in October 2010 from the Golf Channel. He first did weekends and then replaced METRO's Jerome Gray on the 4pm anchor desk. Before that Page was at ESPN.
Looking back at my old post, I had forgotten that Page also has a law degree. So does KPRC weekend anchor Irika Sargent.
Page's last day will most likely be August 31st.
Here is another interesting thing about Page's departure. Fox 26 KRIV's Isiah Carey AKA The Insite is reporting that recently departed KTVT 11 DFW anchor Keith Garvin could be coming to KPRC.
After all, Garvin did tell ace Dallas media blogger Ed Bark he already had another job lined up - but that is all he would say at the time.
Garvin, who grew up in nearby Bryan-College Station, most famously worked as an ABC News correspondent. It just so happens that KPRC parent company Post-Newsweek is now run by Emily Bar who recently ran KTRK 13 sister ABC owned station WLS in Chicago.
Even closer to home, new KPRC managers Chris Best and Aaron Wische both worked at KTVT.
Am I simply connecting the dots or grasping at straws here? Hey, anything is possible.
UPDATE
Keith Garvin starts at KPRC next week and will be the 4pm anchor and night reporter.
